Off the Needles: New Pattern

Lace_Panel_Dec_2013It’s always a thrill when new issues of magazines come out. There can be such a long gap between desinging / making a sample and the publication date that I sometimes forget to share photos of the finished article!

When Let’s Get Crafting said they were sending lace yarn for issue 57 I was very excited. I designed a simple lace panel which would make an ideal ring pillow for a wedding (such a lovely gift), but I am thinking I would like to try working more repeats and make myself a scarf.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t use a 4 ply or dk yarn to make a larger panel which would make a lovely cushion cover for a bedroom. Or even follow the trend for oversized knits and use an aran or chunky yarn!

As always, Let’s Get Crafting have styled and photographed my design beautifully, but this photo is one I took before sending off the sample.

You can find a Ravelry listing for this project here and share your finished makes on the LGC facebook page.

As usual, you’ll find this issue crammed with inspiring projects a and free this month is a  very useful double ended crochet hook along with all the yarn you need to make this lace panel. My particular favourite this month is Sarah Hazell’s Elegant Lace Edging which would look fabulous on a woollen blanket. Issue 57 is on sale now and well worth looking out for.
