I called this design “Patience” because even though it’s very simple, it takes a bit of time to get the required length! The yarn is a combination of Rowan’s Kidsilk Haze and Fine Lace. Both yarns are gorgeous on their own, but put one strand of each together and you get a soft, hazy yarn which has a lovely translucent quality. As always Claire Montgomerie’s eye for detail and Britt Spring’s gorgeous photography really show this design off, but I’ve chosen to share one of the photos I took before it was posted. I love the way the light shines through, in fact I think this would make a perfect wedding shawl. Light and easy to pop in your bag, but stunning when the weather turns cooler.
You can find the pattern in the newly published Knitting Collection Volume 1, which is available in most newsagents right now. Some of the projects are listed on Ravelry, but it’s not a complete list, so do look out for it in the shops.
I took my sample along to knit group to show off and soon realised it looked much better on my friend that it did on me! So now it has a new home and I’ve started work on one for myself. However, with loads of commissions, new book plans and huge garden aspirations this summer it’s unlikely to be finished before next Christmas!
