Pretty Hat

Shilasdair hatIt’s no secret I love a hand knitted or crochet hat and just lately these have been flying off my hook as gifts for Christmas. With a double crochet crown and a half treble body they are ideal for beginners and can be embellished in dozens of ways.  The one pictured here is made in Shilasdair Luxury 4 ply, a favourite of mine. It’s beautifully soft, comes in gorgeous colours and even survives a cold machine wash.

You can make a similar one by following my How to Crochet a Beanie post from way back in 2011! The flower embellishment is knitted, but there’s no reason why you couldn’t crochet a little flower … or even add a bow …  or a pretty button …  or pom poms….
