You may remember I told you I was taking part in a competition sponsored by Homecrafts. Well, here’s what I made:
Everyone taking part was sent the same yarns, none had ball bands so a bit of guess work was needed in calculating if I’d have enough to make what I planned. As most of the yarns were acrylic, it seemed sensible to go for something which could be used out doors and so, after watching the teen paint our garden bench in this stunning black and red combo I got to work and came up with a few pretty things to use out in the garden:
First of all a cushion
Next, this lovely star bunting which hang in the trees and fascinates our neighbour’s cat!
Finally, this table runner with a colourful fringe to brighten up outdoor dining.
The pattern for the star used in the bunting is from Craftseller Issue 13, I’m really tempted to make a version in red, white and blue to celebrate GB’s success in the Olympics!

/ August 6, 2012Well done – I amazed that you produced all that from the balls of yarn that you showed us! Yes, definitely some red white and blue bunting. Before the Olympics started I got thoroughly fed up with all the hype, but I have enjoyed shouting encouragement at the tv, and becoming an expert in all sorts of strange events!

/ August 6, 2012Wow – it’s amazing what you can make with a few balls of yarn. I love the cushion, it’s stunning. Good luck with the competition. What a good paint job too on the bench – it looks fab in black and red. I have my red, white and blue bunting on the hearth – I’ve had it up since the jubilee. I don’t want to take it down xx

/ August 6, 2012OOh how cool Tracey – great creations from the stash you were sent – how inspired to hook outside and inside accessories. Love how they all coordinate with the fabulously re-painted bench. How’s the sari silk to crochet?

I can’t believe how often I’ve used how – wasn’t my intention to use it in every sentence!

/ August 8, 2012It is almost impossible to knit with, I alway recommend really big needles if people insist on using it to knit with :)
It’s been interesting seeing the different yarns people got for the competition, I thought we were all getting the same, but I have yarn envy looking at some of the other blogs :)
