Well, my word what a week it’s been. The teen’s AS level results (very good, thanks for asking), a trip to Sugar Junction, lots of knitting, a fair bit of crochet and a bit of news which was unexpected and much appreciated.
First, what’s been coming off the hook and the needles. I whipped up this crochet cushion in a couple of afternoons. It’s so simple: just make a chain the length of your cushion pad then work as many rows as you need in double crochet – but only through the back loop. Change colour as and when you wish to create the stripes. Or, you could work it using a tweedy yarn such as Rowan Silky Tweed which would be great for this project.
Next, work on the gorgeous Pepper Puppy featured in Inside Crochet has stalled, he has a head and a body and I have promised myself that he will be finished this weekend. He is very soft and squidgy and I won’t be giving him away, he’s “a keeper” who will sit on my work desk and keep me company.
Also, another pair of Duffers found their way off the needles. These ones are for Mr T and I hope he likes them otherwise they will be a Christmas gift for one of the other men in our family. I love this patern, so quick and easy, it’s the one I recommend now to everyone who might be looking for a project to practice increasing and decreasing.
There has been progress on the Dales Blanket too and I’ll be posting information on colours and stitch patterns next week.
Finally, a thank you to the lovely Anne, who I met at Woolfest (introduced by Mousy Brown). I’ve been reading her blog regularly ever since and was very touched this week by the mention she gave me in passing on an award. There will be a whole post about that in a day or two, but I couldn’t end this post without saying thank you.
On the subject of Awards … voting ends on 31st August, so there’s still time to vote for me (pretty please), I’m currently in second place and much as I want to win that egg cup, Witch Mountain is a gorgeous blog with the most lovely illustrations. You really should go and check it out.
So, there you are, a little look at what’s been on my needles. Don’t forget you can post pics or links to your projects over on the Baking and Making facebook page, I’d love to see what you’ve been up to.
