So many butterflies kept us company in the garden yesterday. The first was a Brimstone, fresh out of hibernation; followed by this beauty!

Blackthorn. Probably my favourite blossom - all that promise of sloes in the winter! It's one of our native trees and the early blossom is a vital nectar source for bees. When we bought our house, it was one of the first trees I planted, along with holly and elder.

There is blossom on the damson tree - spring has sprung!

Today's loaf is a rye / spelt sourdough. It's sweet, nutty and chewy. I used it to make cheese on toast for lunch - delicious. This is first time I've used @sharphampark 's rye/spelt blend and I'm really pleased. I used my own sourdough recipe (200g active starter, 300ml tepid water, 500g flour & a tsp salt). I don't knead, just fold it all together, leave for 24 hours then shape and bake. It's a bit denser than my usual spelt loaf, but not as heavy as a traditional rye loaf. #sourdough #realbread #sharphampark #bakingandmaking

Today I shall mostly be potting up cuttings... and maybe cleaning the windows...
