Years ago I remember knitting hundreds of these for a school fundraiser.I still have so many memories of piles of yellow acrylic sitting in my classroom, morphing into little chicks ready to be wrapped around chocolate eggs. It kind of put me off egg cosies for a few years! But now, Easter is approaching and I’ve been searching for a gift to take to friends when we visit for the holidays. Eggs and egg cups (the chocolate variety of course) seemed to fit the bill.
This new pattern came out of a sunny afternoon “playing with yarn”, I wanted to create a pattern easily tackled by a beginner crochet enthusiast, but equally challenging for the more experienced. Change the stitch pattern, add ribbons, bows, beads or other embellishments at your whim.
Please use this pattern as it is intended, as a starting point to creating your own project. All I ask is that you credit this site if you publish / sell your creations. Download the Crochet Egg Cosy pattern which is in printer friendly pdf document.
Enjoy your weekend.

/ March 27, 2011Love the colours and pattern looks so cool (like looking at a poem in a foreign language.. you can appreciate that lots of other people somewhere will understand it!)
We’ll be getting our chicks out soon… but as you and I know they won’t be as plump this year!
