I really love learning new skills, so I was one of the first to sign up to Fibre + Clay‘s Tunisian Crochet workshop in January. The other ladies on the course were equally keen and we had such a lot of fun. Our tutor, Heike Gittins was so lovely, patiently helping us get to grips with the differences between “normal” crochet and Tunisian. As you can see from this photo I had to concentrate really hard (so hard I didn’t even notice the photo being taken).
I managed to complete swatches of 5 different stitches and within a week had made a small purse to hold my hooks. I also discovered Heike writes a blog, which you can find here.
I’ve bought some delicious Debbie Bliss 100% silk to make a Tunisian crochet scarf, which is on the hook, but with lots of other projects on m needles it will be a while before it makes it to the finished pile!
