The last two months have mostly been about knitting for new arrivals, and trying some lovely new yarns. Starting off with this little hat and mittens set in Louisa Harding’s Willow Tweed (a combination of merino, alpaca and silk). Instead of knitting the usual tension square, I decided to try this hat.
It worked surprisingly well, and now I’m all set to cast on a beautiful lace top all for myself.
Next came this lovely vintage style matinee jacket
knitted in pink and blue (the “flavour” isn’t known yet – so best to be safe). Quickly followed by this ever so sweet little bolero in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, a yarn I have fallen in love with as it feels so soft next to the skin.
I also found time to brush up my crochet skills and learn some new colour work techniques on a Crochet Course with Sarah Hazell at Fibre and Clay in Knutsford.
I’ve also been busy with Christmas gifts, including a crochet scarf for my Mother in law (no pics yet, it’s a secret) and a mitten themed advent calendar, following on nicely from the crochet Christmas cards I made in August.
Now the dark evenings are with us, my needles are coming out earlier each day (it’s too dark for allotmenteering by 5pm) so I’m looking forward to getting stuck into some projects all for myself.
Happy Knitting
