Twisted carrots

deformed carrotsThere’s no particular reason for posting these photos of deformed carrots except for interest. Go on, mock my gardening failure!!

I have no idea why they grew this way, the soil isn’t stony, it wasn’t over manured and carrots in the adjacent row (a different variety) have grown long and straight. So, if you have any ideas, let me know. Otherwise just laugh at my disaster … it doesn’t happen very often!

    I think they may be that way due to root-knot nematodes.
