Right now I’m knitting with this beautiful undyed Limari from Araucania Yarns. I made a special trip to buy some from my favourite (and the friendliest) “wool shop”, Fibre and Clay in Knutsford, yesterday. The yarn is 70% merino, 20% alpaca and 10% silk, so it’s exceptionally soft and will be very warm. I plan to relearn my dyeing skills – which have been ignored for many years – vats of dye, fixatives etc are not really conducive to a house full of toddlers, dogs and a high maintenance pony!
But, I couldn’t resist having a little play when I got home. This is knitted on slightly smaller needles than recommended 9mm as I’m a slack knitter (tension wise that is)! I’ve chosen a beaded rib, simply because it requires a little more brain work than ordinary rib and it gives texture without bulk. I’ve only used 17 stitches, which is making quite a slim scarf, but as I’m so little it will be fine for me.
My only worry now is that I didn’t buy enough of the Limari and may have to go back for second helpings!
Also on the needles, a cotton cardigan, which will be finished before my holiday in August, yet more baby hats and a sweet little hedgehog which is great for using up scraps.
Happy knitting everyone x
