All my knitting and crochet projects at the moment seem to be for babies, toys, hats, blankets – you name it – it’s probably been on my needles this month (but not booties, I have never and will never knit socks or booties all that grafting the toe and kitchener stitch mullarkey loses me).
I’m a little bit obsessed with these sweet little patterns from Little Cotton Rabbit’s Etsy Shop. They come by email as .pdf files, beautifully illustrated with clear directions for numpties like me to follow. I’ve been knitting in merino wool, feels so nice, works up neatly, goes in the washing machine and unlike the bamboo I used to make this toddler hat it doesn’t split.
The crochet hook is lying idle, I want to make a cardigan for the winter, but don’t feel in the mood for a big project at the moment, so instead I’ve ordered some red and green silk to start making my Christmas cards, yes I know it’s only June, but when the first decorations appear in the shop I get a severe dose of “Bah Humbug” and the urge to craft for Christmas deserts me.But for now I’m coddled in the warm glow of anticipated making. And, I like making little things, they seem to suit my mood at the moment. So the pile of pink, blue and pastel baby clothes is growing, patiently waiting some safe arrivals in the autumn.
So friends, keep making babies and keep my needles happy.
Because that makes me happy!
